Bali Diving on the Budget

Bali, known as the Island of Gods, located in the lesser Sundas, midway along Indonesia's southernmost chain of islands between Java and Lombok. The tiny volcanic island of Bali, with nearly 3 million people and most of whom are ethnic Balinese is one of the most physically beautiful and culturally rich places in the world.

With its tropical climate, Bali offers spectacular scuba diving and snorkeling, often only meters from the beach. Bali is also home to a wide variety of large pelagic, such as tuna, barracuda, shark, manta and, in season (aug-Oct), Mola-Mola (sunfish) due to the rich upwelling of the Indian Ocean. There are wrecks at Tulamben (WWII USAT Liberty) and Menjangan (a cargo ship sunk in 19th century), wall diving (Menjangan, Nusa Penida), Tepekong's Canyon. Mucks diving for small and unique marine creatures and macro photography at secret bay and reef diving are plentiful!

Above the water, the physical and cultural beauty of the island is legendary. Unlike so many great diving destinations, where your time under the water is wonderful, but your time on land is a time wasting blur of bland hotel rooms with dripping air conditioners, indifferent food and overpriced drinks.

In Bali, there is always something to do or see during your surface intervals. Get out amongst the people, enjoy their friendly personas and experience their unique culture. Take in the hillside rice paddies, lakes, 3,000- meter holy mountains, walking through a village or dense tropical jungles are just some of the activities you can undertake. See the wild monkeys, old lava flows or dry, desert- like landscapes. Bali is also a playground for adventure, not just diving. You can go surfing, sky diving, as well as trekking or bungy jumping, horse riding, elephant ride, white water rafting and much, much more.

Alternatively you can have a quiet vacation by the sea, romantic dinning, shopping, or enjoy the nightlife of Kuta.
